Being a Mechanical Engineer identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products. Additionally, Mechanical Engineer conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Mechanical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. The Mechanical/Design Engineer will work with our team of Industrial Designers and other engineers to develop innovative new products. Will conduct feasibility studies and coordinate validation testing on new and modified designs. Has the ability to use state-of-the-art CAD and analysis tools to create mechanical designs, primarily consisting of injection-molded plastic, extruded parts, and accessory components, from initial concepts through prototyping and into high volume production. Will work closely with internal and/or external partners to generate all necessary documentation and test plans to ensure that products meet specification. Will interact directly with Asian manufacturing facilities. Occasional travel to Asia will be required. Will ensure product features achieve cost, schedule, reliability, and regulatory/safety goals.
