Mechanical Engineering Manager manages the design and analysis of mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Provides technical direction to team members in designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems or components. Being a Mechanical Engineering Manager utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components. Oversees prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and reviews data and analysis to develop improvements. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Manager manages engineering projects through their entire lifecycle, including cost and requirement analysis, scheduling, and coordinating activities with stakeholders. Establishes programs to support training, process improvements, and best practices and protocols. Leads initiatives with other departments to identify potential products and projects. Stays abreast of new technologies and processes and implements changes to improve the organization's mechanical engineering capabilities. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a director. The Mechanical Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Mechanical Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     University Mechanical is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Project Manager for our Anaheim, CA location. UMEC offers industry-leading building information modeling (BIM) capabilities, design/build services, sustainable solutions, commercial HVAC services, and complex mechanical and industrial system installations. This position will lead mechanical construction projects safely on time and within budget for various markets including Healthcare, Life Science, Commercial, Industrial and a wide range of other markets.

    Compensation Range: $100K - 150K

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Project Manager has the following duties which include safety of UMEC field personnel assigned to the projects, field labor productivity, quality assurance and coordination, project financial outcome, projections and reporting, material and equipment procurement, change order management, owner/client relations, project cash flow, and personnel management. Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, executed plans, and programs. Other duties may be assigned. Managers are responsible for directing and overseeing the work activities of their direct reports and to be available during the hours that any direct reports are working.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    Able to effectively operate the following computer software programs - Microsoft (Excel, Works, Project, Access, and Powerpoint), Bluebeam Revu PDF editing, Vista-Viewpoint (Project Management & Accounting Software), and Quotesoft Estimating Software.

    REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES

    To perform this job successfully, the individual must have 5-7 years construction work-related experience and/or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
