Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor supervises a crew performing routine preventive maintenance and safety inspection operations for a building or plant's mechanical equipment, control systems, power distribution systems, and HVAC systems. Follows a daily and weekly schedule to effectively assign maintenance and repair tasks and may use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track work orders. Being a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor oversees preventive maintenance, repair, inspection, and calibration processes to identify wear, damage, or leaks, replace filters or belts, or apply lubrication to mechanical devices. Selects, schedules, and coordinates vendors and outside service providers for specialized repairs or maintenance projects. Additionally, Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor maintains a replacement and spare part inventory at required levels. Trains and coaches the team. Ensures all work and material handling follow established safety procedures and regulations. Experienced with facilities maintenance processes and may have completed a trade apprenticeship or technical training. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
