Being a Media Director negotiates client projects and develops client relationships. Ensures client budget and target audience is met. Additionally, Media Director may require a bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage all aspects of CW39’s morning news programming, including content development for No Wait Weather and Traffic, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging weather and traffic reports.
    • Ensure all content delivers clear viewer benefits, focusing on information that helps our audience navigate their daily lives and stay informed about issues affecting the Houston community.
    • Develop innovative strategies to increase viewer engagement, emphasizing content that resonates with the diverse Houston DMA and aligns with CW39’s mission to connect, inform, and entertain.
    • Collaborate closely with meteorologists and traffic reporters to ensure high-quality, viewer-centric weather and traffic segments that enhance the overall show experience.
    • Oversee the production of creative, fresh segments that provide unique insights, entertainment, and useful information to viewers.
    • Manage content across all platforms (broadcast, digital, and social), ensuring consistency and engagement that meets the needs of both traditional viewers and digital audiences.
    • Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration within the newsroom, empowering producers, reporters, and content creators to deliver value-driven content.
    • Analyze viewer feedback and ratings to make data-driven decisions that improve viewer benefit and grow audiences across platforms.
    • Work closely with the promotions and marketing teams to develop strategies that highlight the value of CW39’s morning shows and attract new viewers.
    • Provide mentorship, feedback, and coaching to content teams to promote growth and maintain a high standard of creative and editorial excellence.
    • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) and the ability to produce unique Spanish-language news, specials, and digital content are preferred.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in television content creation, with at least 2 years in a leadership role focused on news or morning programming.
    • Strong background in managing weather and traffic content, with an understanding of its importance to morning viewers.
    • Proven ability to lead creative teams, inspiring innovative storytelling that enhances viewer experience and value.
    • Excellent communication skills, with experience mentoring and developing newsroom staff.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong organizational skills.
    • Proficiency with digital tools, social media strategy, and audience analytics.
