The Role & You
Latino Media Network is seeking a tech savvy, creative, reliable, problem solving professional to be its Assistant Director of Technology. You will play a key role in bringing LMN’s mission to life and assist in ensuring a smooth operation while implementing and maintaining an infrastructure that is effective, efficient, and secure.
Reporting into the Technology Director in McAllen, TX, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation and troubleshooting of technology infrastructure pertaining to everyday operation of broadcast systems. You will also assist the team by managing technical projects across LMN.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot broadcast equipment such as studio equipment, remote broadcast equipment, RF transmitters, audio processors, EAS units, codecs, STLs, telephony, etc.
- Monitor and maintain FM and AM analog and HD transmission systems.
- Perform regular maintenance on broadcast equipment to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Maintain and operate computer networking technology used in the broadcast industry.
- Understand and adhere to FCC rules and regulations for radio broadcasting.
- Create technical drawings and schematics for broadcast equipment as needed.
- Read and interpret technical documentation related to broadcast equipment and systems.
- Maintain and perform operational facilities maintenance such as AC/DC, HVAC, UPS and power generators.
- Prioritize and manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines and adapt to flexible work schedules.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Propose viable solutions based on emerging technologies and trends in the industry.
You Have These
Experience:
- Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics or computer technology OR a minimum of 4 years of broadcast technology experience in TV or radio, and audio engineering.
- Knowledge of radio production and automation systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining professional electronic equipment used in the broadcast industry.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems and software applications.
- Basic understanding of FCC rules and regulations for radio broadcasting.
- Responsible, reliable, and safety-conscious
- Tech Savvy: ability to stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the radio industry.
- Technical expertise: deep understanding of the technical aspects of radio broadcasting. This includes knowledge of broadcast equipment, audio production software, networking, and transmission systems.
- Excellent communication skills: both verbal and written. This includes the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Creativity and innovation: able to think outside the box to develop new and unique approaches to radio broadcasting and technology.
- Problem-solving skills: able to identify and address technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Project management skills: strong project management skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, develop project plans, and track progress.
- Customer service skills: strong customer service skills, able to provide technical support to radio station staff and address their needs and concerns.
- Possess a valid Texas driver’s license, a clean driving record and a reliable mode of transportation.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver equipment up to 35 pounds.
- Willingness to travel within or out of state as required (up to 10%).
- This position requires the ability to promptly respond to emergencies and work after hours as needed (including evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Compensation
An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The base salary for this position is $55,000-$65,000.
