Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. Gateway Medical is looking to hire a Full Time Medical Assistant for the Greenville, SC area.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patients for physician visits, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, entering in medical history into electronic medical record (EMR), triaging patient telephone calls and documenting the patient’s reason for the office visit while providing support for providers.
General Accountabilities:
• Accurately measures blood pressure, temperature, pulse, chief complaint, medication reconciliation and health history
• Observes and reports changes in patient condition or expectations of service promptly to a provider via telephone and documents communication in clinical note in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Collect and handle laboratory specimens.
• Demonstrates utilization of good basic infection control procedures. Follow agency procedures especially with regard to infection control, handling of hazardous wastes, and safety measures.
• Receive and return clinically-related telephone calls after communicating with physician regarding medical concerns of the patient. Transmit physician medication orders to pharmacy, as governed by state law.
• Transcribe medical record documentation utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) applications.
• Prepares all medical record documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
• Represents the agency in a professional and courteous manner and maintains the highest ethical standards consistent with policies and procedures of the agency.
• Ability to communicate effectively through interpersonal skills with patients, family members, medical providers and colleagues.
• Assists in building relationships by marketing to residential care facilities to enable growth.
• Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned.
