    Position Summary/Description:

    The controller is to assist the hospital Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP.                                             

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures.
    • Ensures internal controls are effective in both design and operation, including the routine monitoring of controls to attain excellent audit results.
    • Comprehensively manage the monthly close, quarterly forecasts and budget process and ensures the deadlines are timely met.
    • Will work as part of team on formulation of assumptions, market analysis, volume projections, pro forma / ROI calculations, and assisting with drafting of executive summary and other supporting documents for equipment acquisitions, campus expansion, and new business development as needed.
    • Provide feedback to department directors (and managers) following monthly close on labor and expense performance. This includes being a resource to the directors equipping them with tools and expertise to manage their roles effectively.
    • Assist the CFO in reviewing decision support analyses and related information generated by staff.
    • Ensures account analysis, reconciliation and supporting documentation is maintained for all activities and all other financial reporting tasks.
    • Manage the preparation of various financial packages as requested (e.g., cost report, tax, audit, etc.).
    • Assist the CFO in the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment and monitoring of mitigation plans, and the communication of financial risk and opportunity to the regional CFO and hospital CEO.
    • Assist the CFO in the monitoring of the financial performance and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts.
    • Ensures maximum productivity and quality of oversight departments. (e.g.; General accounting staff, Accounts Payable, etc.)
    • Projects positive image of the department and hospital
    • Has the ability to function as a team member and appropriately seek supervision as needed.

    COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

     

    Position Requirements:

     Complies with legal, hospital and departmental policies, procedures and position requirements. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Preferred CPA designation or an advanced degree. Minimum 5 years of progressive financial health care or equivalent experience in the areas of general accounting; financial systems; financial statement preparation; review and analysis multi-discipline management experience; ethics; and excellent communication skills. Unquestionable ethics, as well as style and substance that generates respect and credibility. Resilience to working under pressure. Demonstrated ability to motivate, challenge and develop professional staff. Ability to work across functional lines to engage disparate resources to work together to achieve results. Ability to convert complex finance, operational, and compliance issues into terms and concepts that are easily disseminated throughout all levels of the organization.
