Medical Staff Credentialing Director is responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Provides regulatory oversight and guidance to the credentialing process. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Director maintains working knowledge and ensures continuing compliance with state, federal, and institutional standards and guidelines. Develops and implements policies and protocols related to medical staff verifications and ensures that the organization and staff are in accordance with organizational and industry standards. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Director analyzes reports on applications and credential status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Presents files to the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Credentialing Director is responsible for leading the credentialing department. They play a vital role in ensuring that our dental professionals meet the regulatory requirements for our locations, and that providers are enrolled in a complete and timely manner with a multitude of insurance payors. This role involves collaborating with internal leaders and managers across departments to ensure alignment and workflow progress.

    Responsibilities:

    • Daily oversight, audit functionality and responsibility for teams that perform all provider credentialing, dental plan enrollment (including delegated credentialing) and assisting providers in obtaining licensure.
    • Maintain and report to leadership on team performance using metrics and KPIs, while continually looking for ways to improve efficiencies
    • Manage the collection, verification, and maintenance of provider credentials, including licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance, and other required documentation.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Operations, HR, and other departments.
    • Develop written Standard Operating Procedures for the centralization and standardization of processes; continually monitors changes in workflow as needed to improve productivity.
    • Manage and/or assist in key department or cross-functional projects
    • Work directly with insurers to foster a strong partnership and maximize efficiencies related to all credentialing and enrollment functions
    • Motivate diverse teams by exemplifying the company vision, mission, values, and culture
    • Forecast department staffing needs and manages staffing levels, with a strong focus on developing and retaining strong talent.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA or other MA preferred
    • Seven plus years’ experience with in-depth working knowledge of provider credentialing, with Dental credentialing experience a key plus.
    • Strong working knowledge of CAQH and NCQA guidelines, as well as industry standards for credentialing best practices.
    • Proficient in navigating state regulations guidance on enrollment requirements

    Required or Specialized Skills:

    • High level of experience and expertise successfully managing a team
    • Flexibility to support and to adapt to change
    • Current, in-depth knowledge of governmental and commercial credentialing rules and regulations
    • Strong working knowledge of the end-to-end credentialing process, including primary source verification, delegated credentialing and dental plan provider enrollment
    • Proven career progression with increasing levels of project experience and responsibility
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Strong ability to measure and report to key metrics of team performance
    • Must be able to report to the office twice per month.

    Preferred Skills: Dental credentialing expertise, particularly within the government payor space
