Medical Staff Credentialing Director is responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Provides regulatory oversight and guidance to the credentialing process. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Director maintains working knowledge and ensures continuing compliance with state, federal, and institutional standards and guidelines. Develops and implements policies and protocols related to medical staff verifications and ensures that the organization and staff are in accordance with organizational and industry standards. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Director analyzes reports on applications and credential status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Presents files to the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Guide Healthcare Professionals through steps necessary to complete credentialing and licensure process.
    • Assess state requirements, interpret licensing applications, and facilitate completion of applications.
    • Develop competency in accurately prefilling online and paper application for provider placements across the country with most state medical boards. • Maintain strong working relationships with candidates and vendors.
    • Develop and implement individualized plans for each candidate based on education, experience, credentials, and other relevant factors.
    • Communicate with and prepare paperwork for third parties, including licensing boards and credentialing agencies.
    • Stay abreast of changes that could impact credentialing processes.
    • Working knowledge on general details of physician licensure with multiple state boards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
    • Strong attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
    • Detail oriented with the ability to recognize vital information from verification documents.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work. (Managing multiple priorities)
    • Holds self-accountable to ensure goals are met.
    • Knowledge and understanding of licensing board processes.
    • Ability to analyze, interpret and draw inferences from research findings and prepare reports.
    • Working knowledge of hospitals credentialing operations and processes.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, management, providers, and other contacts outside of the organization.
    • Healthcare Credentialing experience a MUST.

    Experience and Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred but not required.
    • 1 to 3 years of related experience.
    • State Board licensure credentialing processing for MD/DO and mid-level practitioners highly preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment
