Schedulers work with patients and providers to schedule initial and follow-up appointments, call patients to provider reminders and information about appointments, coordinate with outside provider offices on patient appointments, and monitor schedules to follow-up with patients who miss their appointments.
Referral Specialists research and schedule referrals for internal and external provider appointments, monitor all incoming referrals, notify referring offices of any issues with documentation, advise new patients on completion of intake paperwork and insurance issues, research and obtain ICD-10/CPT codes for authorization processing, and obtain prior authorizations for cancer treatment and rheumatology patients. All patient information is processed through Kymera’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and the vast majority of the work done by Office Support Staff is completed within the EMR.
Candidates seeking employment with Kymera in an Office Support Scheduling or Referrals positions must have a High-School or General Equivalency Diploma, should have 1-2 years of experience working in a medical office with focus on working scheduling and/or referrals, computer skills with emphasis on understanding EMR systems, customer service skills, organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and shift focus to assist with patient needs, and basic understanding of medical terminology.
