Food Critic

In this role, you will be the voice and tastemaker of our local culinary scene. You will create compelling reviews that capture the essence of each dining experience, from flavor profiles to ambiance, providing our readers with honest, insightful, and captivating content. Your expertise will guide food enthusiasts through the diverse eateries our region has to offer, from bustling cafes to haute cuisine restaurants.

Job Responsibilities

• Dine and Review: Visit a variety of local restaurants, cafes, and eateries to evaluate food quality, service, and overall experience.
• Write Engaging Reviews: Produce detailed, authentic, and engaging content that highlights your dining experiences, aligning with the magazine's style and tone.
• Culinary Trends: Stay abreast of emerging culinary trends and notable movements within the local food scene to inform your reviews and features.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the editorial team to plan and execute content that meets the publication’s standards and deadlines.
• Communication: Maintain a productive working relationship with the Story Coordinator to ensure a seamless flow of information and content delivery.

Qualifications

• Exceptional writing skills, with a strong command of descriptive language and storytelling.
• A deep passion for food, dining, and exploring local culture.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, crucial for interacting effectively with restaurateurs and the editorial team.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with content management systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with AP style guidelines and previous experience in a food writing role is highly desirable.
