STATION OPERATIONS MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of an assigned Nebraska Next Day Station; performs complex duties and responsibilities in the execution of DHL contract; ensures compliance with all contract requirements as well as governmental and state regulations and company policies.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives administrative direction from the General Manager or Company Owners.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned station employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -- The following are examples of primary duties assigned to positions in this classification.
Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Manages and oversees all services and activities of assigned station; performs administrative duties to ensure completion of DHL contract agreements; communicates job/route plans to Territory Manager and DHL station
Manager as needed.
2. Performs duties in planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising and reviewing the work of assigned employees.
3. Recruits, interviews and hires employees; provides or coordinates employee training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements disciplinary procedures.
4. Verifies the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with standards; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
5. Maintains confidential records including employee personnel information.
6. Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures for assigned station; recommends improvements and modifications; provides responsible assistance to Territory Manager and Company Owners.
7. Ensures customer service standards of station are met; takes corrective action for customer service issues.
8. Develops and maintains a professional working relationship with local DHL management.
9. Participates in the development and oversight of budget; forecasts funds needed for staffing, equipment, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures.
10. Prepares reports and logs related to station activities; oversees recordkeeping for the station.
11. Utilizes computer and related software to estimate time and resources needed and to ensure efficient delivery plans.
12. Adjusts work plans and schedules according to changes caused by weather, mechanical issues or other unforeseen circumstances.
13. Manages employee schedules and requests for leave time; arranges coverage of shifts in the event an employee is unable to work shift as scheduled; assists employees on routes or in station and in uniform as needed to ensure service delivery.
14. Maintains vehicle maintenance records; coordinates maintenance services.
15. Communicates and demonstrates compliance with work rules, directives, and procedures to staff including those of company clients.
16. Responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints from other staff, DHL representatives and customers; investigate problems and resolve issues in a timely manner.
17. Completes required training modules and attends and participates in training sessions or meetings as required; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the express delivery business.
18. Completes reports of any accidents, property damage or injuries.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
Ability to: Perform responsible management and administrative functions; understand and execute requirements of
DHL contract; oversee and direct work of employees; ensure compliance with laws and regulations, policies and procedures; keep accurate records; effectively represent the company and DHL; anticipate and solve a variety of operational problems; utilize a computer and related software; communicate clearly and concisely; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screen and comply with alcohol and drug-free workplace policies; learn and comply with all company work rules.
Knowledge of: Management concepts and practices; leadership; employee supervision; operations and services of the express package delivery business; principles and practices of effective customer service; Microsoft Office and other specialized software applications; applicable Federal, State and local laws.
Training and Experience: High school diploma supplemented by college level coursework and/or degree required.
Three years (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the express package delivery business plus previous management or supervisory experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
License or Certificate: The possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain of a valid Driver’s license issued by the
State where position is located. Clean driving record required.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to daily deadlines; changing workloads; ongoing communication with customers and employees; use of computers and office equipment; noise, dust, fumes; interruptions; long periods of sitting and standing; occasional overtime; occasional out-of-town travel for training purposes.
The work is characterized as Medium to Heavy work. Exerting up to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to
40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May with up to 140 pounds with the assistance of other workers. Daily physical activities include walking, carrying and lifting, climbing and descending stairs, reaching overhead, squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching repeatedly, using computer keyboard. Visual acuity to operate equipment and motor vehicle required.
