Job Description: Demand Planner
The Demand Planner collaborates with the Sales Manager to develop and maintain forecast and a product mix based on historical sales data, growth initiatives and current market trends. This individual will collaborate with production planners to ensure on-time delivery of Meyer products. The Demand Planner, Production Planner and Inside Sales Manager meet regularly to define lead times based on component availability, production capacity and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and monitor finished goods forecast at the direction of the Sales Manager
- Develop Meyer finished goods forecast based on historical sales data, market trend analysis, seasonality and growth initiatives.
- Beyond forecast production of existing products, consideration give to new product development, product enhancement and product end-of-life scenarios
- Forecast out to a duration adequate to satisfy component lead-times, production planning and sales requirements
- Review and update demand forecast/report based on order intake and market conditions in an effort to meet customer requirements and optimize inventory while allowing adequate time for production and workforce planning
- Understand lead-times based on production schedule, inventory, WIP and manufacturing capacities. Work with Production Planners and Inside Sales Manager to minimize lead-times while meeting dealer and customer requirements
- Verify that all necessary option part numbers and BOM packages are complete per orders received. Coordinate with appropriate Engineering or BOM staff if not.
- Awareness of daily order-taking activities and production progress
- Communicate demand gaps and forecast changes to Production Planning.
Forecast certain product options, update forecast regularly with status and change requirements
- Monitor order taking, product mix, option/sizes chosen against the sales forecast to identify adjustments as needed in order to ensure on-time delivery of Meyer products.
- Forecasted options may include: semi-trailer options, tire/wheel options, scale options, tarps and other items as needed by Production Planners
Collaborate with BOM Department to generate top-level part number structure
- Participate in the product configuration process relating to branding and option packages while being mindful of MRP processes.
- Coordinate with BOM Department to ensure that all necessary product and option packages are completed in adequate time to meet order requirements.
Finished Goods Groups / Stock Units
- Collaborate with Inside Sales Manager to assist production planners by identifying priority dealer stock orders and factory stock finished goods to complete retail order groupings established by Production Planner.
- Review dealer floor plan orders to verify model and option packages are appropriate for market area. Prioritize stock orders based on expected turn-over rates, dealer sales history, current finished goods inventories, logistical factors and more in order to maximize sales potential while limiting AR liability.
- Determine options and configurations of finished goods stock using analytics and metrics
- Monitor finished goods stock turnover
Work with Sales Manager to established finished goods pricing & structure
- Ability to run necessary reports and analyze costs on products and options
- Apply necessary cost factors to establish retail prices
- Regularly maintain finished goods pricing in conjunction with inside sales department
- Monitor finished goods margins in various product categories (report trends to Sales Manager)
- Coordinate monthly cost reports with the help of Sales Support Specialist
- Track upcoming product changes for model year change (price book & production implications)
- Assist in creation of finished goods price guides: digital, paper and eventually product configurator
Provide creative assistance for Sales & Marketing Department
- Work with Sales Manager on development of concepts for new and existing product lines
- Identify any areas on the Meyer website and promotional materials that require updates, work with Sales Manager to create a course of action
- Handle overflow sales calls, especially as it relates to production lead times
Perform other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Understanding of product forecasting, production coordination and order fulfillment of such product.
- Strong knowledge of demand planning and inventory management methods and procedures
- Mathematical and statistical knowledge
- Experience with manufacturing and manufacturing processes
- Possesses knowledge of fundamental product configuration logic relating to BOM is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, but able to communicate effectively with leadership, peers and subordinates with professionalism
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to problem solve and provide ideas for adaptive forecasting and process changes relating to ERP implementation.
- Strong email, phone, Teams and messaging capabilities
- Experience in sales, marketing and distribution is a plus

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree
- 2 years experience with sales forecasting
- 2 years experience in manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP/MRP software a plus
