Member Certification Specialist coordinates the certification and credentialing programs of a professional or membership organization. Participates in the development of standards and the creation of testing materials. Being a Member Certification Specialist maintains and monitors a test scheduling system or database. Organizes resources to implement testing schedules and sessions, including locations, testers, technology, and materials. Additionally, Member Certification Specialist assists members with information about programs and resolves any issues with the process. Interfaces with and monitors outside testing providers. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Member Certification Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Our facility boasts two indoor pools and an outdoor seasonal pool. Opportunity for advancement for interested candidates and employees since we promote from within: nearly all of our Head Lifeguards, Coordinators, Assistant Directors and Directors started out as part-time Lifeguards! Lifeguards must have the ability to recognize and respond to hazardous situations. They must be able to supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate members about water safety, enforce rules and give assistance whenever needed. Eligible candidates should possess a current Red Cross Lifeguard or YMCA Lifeguard certification (or be willing and able to obtain via one of our FREE courses) and additional First Aid related certifications. Responsibilities: Understands emergency procedures and recognizes and responds to emergency situations in the pool area. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other team members. Understands and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool area. Takes responsibility for implementing and supporting change of policies/procedures. Maintains accurate pool records as required by the YMCA and state/local Health Department code. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed; this includes rescue equipment and well stocked fanny packs and first aid kits.
