Member Certification Specialist coordinates the certification and credentialing programs of a professional or membership organization. Participates in the development of standards and the creation of testing materials. Being a Member Certification Specialist maintains and monitors a test scheduling system or database. Organizes resources to implement testing schedules and sessions, including locations, testers, technology, and materials. Additionally, Member Certification Specialist assists members with information about programs and resolves any issues with the process. Interfaces with and monitors outside testing providers. POSITION FUNCTION AND PURPOSE
The Affiliate Relations Specialist (AR Specialist) is responsible for providing direction, visibility, program integration, and expanding market access and penetration for NEA MB programs in state and local affiliates within a defined territory. The AR Specialist connects with members face-to-face and through other direct channels (i.e., mail, email, conferences, conventions, and social media) to foster interaction, engagement, participation and revenue growth for NEA Member Benefits.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
COMPLEXITY
The work consists of functions and processes involving a broad range of activities. Assignments are characterized by breadth and intensity of effort and involve several phases being pursued with the support of others within or outside the organization. Decisions regarding what needs to be done include the in-depth analysis of issues, circumstances, methodology, incomplete or conflicting data, and/or incompatible results. The work requires making many decisions concerning such matters as the interpretation of considerable and complex data, organizing new techniques, or establishing criteria.
CONTACTS/RELATIONSHIPS
At this level, contacts are also with high-level staff and leaders of NEA, its state and local affiliates, and/or suppliers. Contacts involve presenting, justifying, or defending very important issues where diverse viewpoints, goals, and objectives are strongly advocated and must be reconciled to achieve suitable alternatives or to arrive at acceptable positions. Contacts occur in highly unstructured settings, often in critical situations. This level is intended to cover extremely difficult contacts of NEA-wide importance which involve meeting and dealing with individuals or groups whose approval, participation, or agreement is vital to the effective administration of NEA MB programs or services. The incumbent represents NEA MB and has authority to negotiate on MB's behalf pending managerial approval.
DIRECTION NEEDED
Assignments are stated in terms of broadly defined missions or functions. The employee is responsible for planning, designing, and carrying out activities independently. Recommendations for new projects and alteration of objectives are usually evaluated for such considerations as availability of funds and other resources, broad program goals, or organizational priorities. The employee keeps the supervisor informed in projects of major scope and/or major importance to the organization as well as any potentially controversial matter, or far-reaching implications. Completed work is reviewed only from an overall standpoint in terms of feasibility, compatibility with other work, or effectiveness in meeting requirements or expected results.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESULTS
This position has shared or is principally responsible for work output and results that are complex and where results are not generally reviewed and have a considerable impact on the internal operations of NEA MB and/or limited impact on external relations.

Position is based out of the incumbent's home 60 percent of time spent traveling.
Valid driver's license is required.
Position requires attendance at association meetings on weekends and in the evening.
