Additionally, Merchandise Buyer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Merchandise Buyer typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience.     Key Buyer Objectives:

    1. Order Processing: Accurately process orders and provide transactional oversight.
    2. Inventory Management: Effectively manage inventory and nurture vendor relationships.
    3. Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis, risk assessments, and reporting.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Safely and courteously work in adherence to all company policies and procedures.
    • Process purchase orders efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
    • Handle day-to-day transactional activities related to purchasing, including order tracking, invoicing, and payment processing.
    • Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels, analyzing demand patterns and adjusting plans accordingly.
    • Maintain accurate master data, including product information, supplier details, and pricing for inventory and purchasing optimization.
    • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
    • Maintain vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and source new suppliers when needed.
    • Negotiate favorable terms, discounts, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
    • Assess and manage potential risks associated with suppliers, contracts, and market fluctuations.
    • Utilize analytical tools to analyze purchasing data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
    • Generate regular reports on key procurement metrics and present findings to management.
    • Track and manage order status, ensuring on-time delivery and resolving issues.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, implementing strategies to address disruptions.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, and quality control.
    • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier communications.
    • Provide regular updates on procurement activities to relevant stakeholders.

    Secondary Responsibilities:

    • Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and supplier capabilities.
    • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and products aligned with business objectives.
    • Connect and collaborate with internal teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of needs and requirements.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Essential

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Preferred

    • 1-2 years of experience in a procurement or buying role.
    • Experience using procurement software or ERP systems.
    • Related experience within the manufacturing industry.
