Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner plans and coordinates merchandise flow-through. Inputs and maintains data in various merchandising systems. Additionally, Merchandise Planner may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Merchandise Planner gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Description

    JOB SUMMARY: The Planner is responsible for planning, collecting, evaluating and reporting on purchases, sales and inventories of various products. They will be responsible for maintaining inventory within the ERP system and working with customer service and engineering on product concerns.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Responsible for the management of raw material, piece parts and finished goods inventory
    • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation and other manufacturing operations related to specific portion of the product for guidance of production workers
    • Plans detail operations from blueprints, engineering orders, change notices and other engineering releases
    • Create work orders for materials and product processing and coordinate to ensure items are being processed according to specifications and time requirements
    • Maintain progress reports, schedules and other related records. Performs planning and scheduling functions involved with coordinating products and materials through various production phases

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Implement planned production schedules, labor loading and capacity requirements
    • Review schedules to determine materials and parts requirements to ensure materials are available according to schedule
    • Work with production management to ensure that on-site materials are accurately inventoried and any discrepancies are appropriately dealt with
    • Plan and manage ongoing cycle count process
    • Provide input and assistance for supplier reviews

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Associate's Degree
    • Experience Years: 3-5 years
    • Experience Type: Planning
    • OR equivalent combination of education and experience

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and web proficiency
    • Experience using MRP/ERP Systems in a production environment
