Merchandise Planner - Produce develops strategies and techniques to increase sales of produce. Analyzes department profits and profit margins of individual items. Production Planner

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Produces production schedules for product lines, initiates shop orders, and establishes priorities for specific customer orders.
    • Generating daily production schedule for high mix, low volume production environment
    • Revises schedule daily according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of labor, parts, materials, machines, and equipment.
    • Establish and communicate to customer facing department(s) ship dates based on customer requested dates, material availability, and capacity constraints.
    • Respond to questions from Production Supervisors regarding schedules, order submittals, drawings, drawing distribution, etc.
    • Assist in reviewing and responding to needed adjustments, delivering root cause analysis corrective actions
    • Works as a liaison between Customer Service and Production on all expedite requests
    • Assist in setting and maintaining product master and planning fields in ERP system
    • Ability to write work instructions for departmental tasks
    • Work collaboratively with cross plant planning counterparts 
    • Work with purchasing and operations teams on schedule impacts and resolution.
    • Respond to questions about job status and scheduling, including delivery status of sales orders
    • Cultivate and manage effective communications and working relationships cross-functionally
    • Communicate change orders and hot jobs to shop personnel.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associates Degree or 3 years related manufacturing experience
    • APICS CPIM certification a plus
    • Previous experience with ERP system (Epicor preferred but not required)
    • Good communication skills including the ability to respond to inquiries from other internal departments or manufacturing personnel
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Standard office environment
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
    • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
    • Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles and/or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the plant environment is usually loud.
