Meteorologist investigates, integrates and analyzes meteorological data from a variety of sources, including surface and air stations, satellites, and radar to prepare reports and forecasts for public and other uses. Analyzes weather model guidance and issues specialized hazardous weather forecasts when warranted. Being a Meteorologist requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Meteorologist work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.     Job Summary/Description:

    WTVG-TV, the #1 station and award-winning ABC affiliate in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking a dynamic Meteorologist to help execute our aggressive First Alert Weather brand and join our talented team of meteorologists. The ideal candidate for this position possesses superior forecasting and storytelling skills. We are looking for a Meteorologist adept in all aspects of meteorology, including forecasting, graphics preparation, digital presentation, social media, and live reporting in the field. Our Meteorologists must have a passion for the profession and lead the charge in not only our daily coverage, but when we are threatened by severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, hail, damaging winds, ice, and snow.

    Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Take ownership and execute our First Alert Weather brand
    • Fluent in the latest weather technology
    • Deliver accurate forecasts in an engaging and impactful manner for multiple platforms
    • Write and update detailed web stories
    • Ensure all weather content leads the market and meets WTVG standards for integrity and production value
    • Clearly communicate the weather information to management and producing staff for planning purposes (short and long-range)
    • Create engaging social media content around the weather
    • Report live during severe weather events
    • Represent the station at community and station-sponsored public events
    • Report/MMJ as needed

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or a related/equivalent field
    • AMS Seal of Approval preferred
    • Minimum 2 years experience in weather anchoring preferred
    • Proven track record of forecasting severe storms
    • Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the nature of weather events
    • A clean driving record, the ability to drive in various weather conditions, and a valid driver's license is a requirement of this position.
    • Ability to create clear graphics supporting a weather forecast story
    • Proficient in posting to digital platforms and managing social media
    • Able to work under tight deadline pressure
