Middleware Engineer performs design, development, installation, tuning, and maintenance of middleware applications. Provisions platforms and infrastructure with middleware solutions. Being a Middleware Engineer analyzes requirements to implement effective middleware architecture, resolve technical issues, and optimize performance. Defines and documents technical designs and system configurations. Additionally, Middleware Engineer coordinates with application development and cross-functional technical teams to enable and support middleware integrations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Middleware Engineer works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     Your Impact:

    • Responsible for the design of schematic/environmental/PS&E projects for WA DOT and other municipal/county clients.

    • Direct and/or perform engineering calculations from preliminary to final design.

    • Develop and lead design of plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.

    • Assist in proposal, scope of work, and fee schedule preparation.

    • Clearly communicate work and ideas through drawings, documents, reports, and verbal exchange.

    • Follow design standards to layout proposed improvements in MicroStation and coordinate design with design team members.

    • Coordinate with project staff, other disciplines and sub-consultants, Departments, and reviewers to ensure accuracy and quality of work.

    • Maintain project documentation.

    • Schedule work for team members to deliver project tasks on time and on budget.

    • Assist in the training, supervision, development, and evaluation of engineering support staff.

     

    Who you are:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering BS.

    • 4 years of design experience on transportation schematic and design projects. Experience in WA DOT design is a plus.

    • REMOTE for anyone in WA, OR, Northern CA, ID 

    • PE or PM experience working on WA DOT projects is highly desirable but not required

    • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).

    • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Ability to mentor engineers and technicians.

    • Demonstrated experience using Civil 3D, MicroStation InRoads or OpenRoads required

    Work Environment
