Millwright maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools. Moves, assembles, installs or dismantles machinery. Being a Millwright interprets schematic diagrams, blueprints, and sketches. Analyzes plans for new equipment and maps out space to unpack and assemble new equipment. Additionally, Millwright troubleshoots problems and repairs or replaces worn or broken parts as necessary. May use equipment like forklifts, aerial lifters, and cranes to move heavy or unwieldy machinery. May perform welding, fabrication, or calibration as needed. Follows all work site safety requirements and regulations. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require OSHA Forklift Operator Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Millwright works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Millwright typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is seeking a Maintenance Millwright to work at our Bayport Facility (Pasadena, TX).
Essential Duties
Safe maintenance and repair of mechanical rotating equipment
Proper handling and installation of mechanical seals
Interpretation of mechanical designs and maintenance manuals
Use of a wide variety of hand, portable, and stationary power tools
Demonstrate root cause analysis approach to failures and generate reports accordingly.
Required
Experience in safe in-plant maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
Demonstrated ability to work in close tolerances; familiar with dial indicators, dial calipers, micrometers and other exact measuring equipment.
Good verbal communication skills
Past history of excellent quality results in daily work activities
Must be motivated and self-directed.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment.
Good written and electronic communication skills
Basic knowledge of mag- drive pumps
Basic knowledge of lathe, milling machine, drill press and other machine shop duties
Knowledge of precision tools
High School Diploma or equivalent
5 years related experience.
Desirable
2-Year Technical Degree in mechanical field or NCCER millwright certification
Working knowledge of both pump and reactor functions
Working knowledge of hydraulic pumps, motors, and actuators
Working knowledge of correct alignment procedures
Thorough understanding of how bearing condition, alignment, structural support, and piping stress affect equipment MTBF
An understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance procedures
Working knowledge of the purpose and installation of mechanical seals
Working knowledge of lubrication best practices
