Model Coordinator

  • Laguna College of Art Design is seeking a full-time experienced Model Coordinator. The College is located in an internationally recognized arts colony in Laguna Beach, California and offers a diversity of majors in Animation, Graphic Design and Digital Media, Fine Art, Game Art, Illustration, and Entertainment Design.

    Position Summary:

    The Model Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to maintain a pool of models, coordinate bookings for classes, onboard new hire models, assist the Administrative Assistant to Department Chairs - Main Campus, and provide back-up receptionist coverage at all campus locations, but primarily at Big Bend.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Model Coordinator

    • Contacts models for availability and scheduling of all classes.
    • Coordinates with instructors to schedule models for classes and reschedules cancelled bookings.
    • Composes Excel spreadsheets with class and model breakdown.
    • Confirms each Friday by telephone the models that are booked for the following week.
    • Approves Model timecards by scheduled deadline.
    • Maintains and keeps current the Master Model Contact List and the Master Model Costume Database, along with all model photos.
    • Prepares and submits monthly model budget report for the Controller.
    • Prospects monthly for new models through internet searches, referrals, and word of mouth.
    • Conducts prospective new model telephone interviews and extends offers of employment.
    • Coordinates with the Office of Human Resources to conduct onboarding process for new hires. Meets with newly hired models to review Model Guide and conduct tour of Main Campus.
    • Assists models with challenges or concerns they may have.
    • Meets with models in person to review performance when not meeting LCAD standards and counsels as necessary with the Office of Human Resources.

    Assisting Academic Affairs

    • Assists Administrative Assistant to Department Chairs with full administrative duties.
    • Assists with setting up events (planning and setting up food display, decorations, etc.).
    • Provides back-up front desk coverage at Big Bend and other locations, if needed.
    • Assists at College events as needed.

    Big Bend Reception Duties

    • Walks the studios daily to straighten chairs and add or remove chairs when needed, straightens keyboards and monitors, picks up trash, reports maintenance issues, and reports lost and found items.
    • Walks the halls and student lounge daily, straightens pictures and poster boards as needed.
    • Greets students, faculty, guests and assists with questions.
    • Assists faculty with items needed for their studios, supplies, access to offices, items to be brought to Main Campus, etc.
    • Creates an atmosphere consistent with Main Campus (posting of flyers and posters, holiday decorations, publications in student lounge, bulletin board notices, etc.).
    • Campus Security Authority – assists with fire drills and reports security issues. Provides back-up for setting alarm during breaks and summer.

    Education

    Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or commensurate education and experience.

    Experience

    • 2 years of office experience preferred.
    • Experience in higher education preferred.

    Licenses

    Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license, maintain an excellent driving record, have a means of transportation and carry Bodily Injury Liability Insurance coverage of at least $50,000 per person/$50,000 per accident.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    • Supervisor for approximately 50 models.

    Position Requirements

    • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel software programs (or equivalent) preferred.
    • Ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of employees, management, and students.
    • Must possess strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills required.
    • Must be able to adapt to changing circumstances.
    • A commitment to supporting LCAD’s diversity, equity, and inclusion program required.
    • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills required.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team required.

    • Experience in higher education preferred.
    • Must be able to drive personal vehicle for business purposes and must pass DMV background check and have minimum insurance requirements as set by LCAD.

    Physical Essential Functions:

    Sitting, typing, and moving from one place to another. This position takes place indoors in an office environment sitting at a desk and working in front of a computer. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.

    Business Hours:

    The regular hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch. Regular hours may vary based on the College’s needs. Overtime, weekend, and evening hours may be required. Travel will be required.

    Classification and Status:

    This is a non-exempt position.

    This is a regular, full-time position.

    This is a benefits-eligible position.

    Hourly Wage Range: $17.11 - $20.70 per hour

    The successful candidate will be required to undergo a job-related background check, inclusive of employment and education verification.Some positions may require successful completion of a post-offer agility test. Employment is contingent on satisfactory results of the aforementioned, in addition to compliance with requirements cited in this job description.
