    PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Manager, Mortgage Credit Analytics at our Tysons, Virginia location.  The primary purpose of this job is to provide credit risk oversight and effective challenge of Penfed’s mortgage business. Responsibilities include identification of emerging risks, analysis and monitoring of the firm’s mortgage credit exposures and performance, and formulation of recommendations to ensure risks are consistent with our risk appetite and effectively managed. In addition, the position is responsible for the development and management of a mortgage credit data infrastructure to support second-line analytics.

    • Conduct analysis of portfolio composition, performance, and trends; prepare reports and present findings; and provide insights and recommendations.
    • Provide analytics to support the development of effective credit policies, portfolio management, and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Identify data needs and sources; actively participate in development of Penfed’s credit data strategy and architecture; integrate diverse and complex data sets from various sources; understand and champion data quality.
    • Collaborate with various functional areas of PenFed (including Credit Modeling, Mortgage Operations, Compliance, and Finance) to identify and mitigate risks associated with originations, servicing, and portfolio management processes.
    • Leverage credit models and internal and external data to measure and monitor credit risk and evaluate efficacy of business strategies and processes in sourcing and managing risk exposures.
    • Develop and execute statistical sampling methods for selection of loans for quality control review and analyze and report on sample results.
    • Mentor analysts by providing guidance and training.
    • Write memos and develop presentations summarizing analysis, results, and recommendations.
    • Participate in external and internal audits, and regulatory examinations as needed.
    • Provide thought leadership and foster collaboration to solve problems and achieve goals.

    Qualifications

    Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field, required. master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in data analytics, credit risk management or modeling in financial services industry required.
    • Previous supervisory experience.
    • Strong business acumen and technical skills.
    • Proficiency in various data analysis and visualization tools including SAS, R, Python, SQL, Tableau, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently manage multiple priorities, meet timelines, and escalate issues in a timely manner.
    • Initiative and strong interpersonal skills to actively lead and implement ideas in a cross-functional team environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
    • Team player with positive attitude.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position will directly supervise employees.

     

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

    *Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*

     

    Travel

    Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may is required.
