VIP's onsite daycare is seeking a reliable, passionate, hands-on Preschool Teacher to run our Pre-K classroom. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in an early childhood setting with ages 3-5, and is able to work well with a dedicated team, foster a positive learning environment, design age-appropriate curriculum, and communicate effectively with families.

For 33 years the Roots Daycare has been nurturing infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in Colchester, VT. It is our mission to provide each child with a high quality, educational, play-based program that will foster their individual creativity and curiosity. We strive to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where everyone feels that their needs are valued and understood. Roots is housed within the headquarters of Vermont Information Processing and is currently attended by 50 children of VIP employees. 

Position Type: Full Time

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide enrichment for children's social, physical, and academic development within our program. 
• Develop age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote and support the building of social skills, practical capabilities and self-esteem
• Implement day-to-day activities, complete on-going assessments
• Collaborate with lead teachers to supervise, guide and encourage children's learning and development
• Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure their safety at all times
• Communicate with parents regularly on their child’s day to day progress
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of relevant childcare experience (preferably with children under age 5)
• High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree with a major in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education or Child & Family Services is preferred)
• Qualified as a Teacher Associate as defined by the State of Vermont's Child Development Division
• Demonstrated interest and ability to work with young children
• Knowledge of appropriate practices in early childhood development
• Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team
• Effective and strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program
• Ability to lift 25-30 lbs
• Ability to squat, kneel, sit on the floor, as well as speak with children and families to ensure the health and safety of each child
