We have an exciting opportunity for an FHA Mortgage Underwriter. The FHA Mortgage Underwriter will review and underwrite FHA mortgage loans on healthcare properties. Our Underwriters communicate with HUD, clients, and sales teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze, interpret, and underwrite healthcare real estate transactions in compliance with respective agency guidelines (FHA).
- Problem-solve and exercise independent judgment while effectively identifying and mitigating transactional risks.
- Display a high degree of initiative and accuracy.
- Organize and prioritize projects; complete multiple tasks on schedule.
- Conduct detailed economic and demographic research to determine the feasibility of transactions.
- Prepare and present a comprehensive loan approval package to the credit committee.
- Communicate with third parties and review reports such as appraisals, market studies, engineering reports, and project capital needs assessments.
- Ensure written communication between the company, FHA, and the borrower is completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with closing and provide, prepare, and/or submit standardized FHA correspondence and forms.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships by presenting a professional, courteous image when interacting with customers, FHA, coworkers, management, and other stakeholders.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- LEAN underwriter certification.
- Ability to underwrite deals with minimal supervision.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing abilities; strong Excel skills.
- Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
- Ability to interpret, understand, and apply rules, regulations, and guidance.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management skills and respect for deadlines.
