Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed. This person will be supporting internal users in their location 75% of their time. The other 25% of their time they will be traveling to nearby sites (around local area 45 minutes or so in any direction). They will primarily be supporting the manufacturing plants. The Network Support Analyst will be purchasing, installing and imaging computers and printers, as well as, troubleshooting any technical issues that arise (they will be doing no repairs.) Additionally, this person will be taking care of the network – cabling, installing switches, configuring switches, installing wireless access points and wireless bridges. 40% of their time they’d be doing desktop support, 40% network support and 20% project work.
