A News Producer is one of the most integral members of any news-production team. The News Producer takes all the elements of a newscast (packages, video, graphics, etc.) and compiles them into a cohesive show. In the hierarchy of the newsroom, the News Producer is under the executive producer, who reports to the news director. The News Producer is usually on the same level as the anchor, although this may differ from newsroom to newsroom. The News Producer is over the director, studio crew, reporters, field crew, photographers, editors, etc....

KWTX, the dominant CBS station in Central Texas, is seeking a super Producer/MMJ with abilities and desire to generate and tell creative stories on-air, and who displays creativity and consistency in producing newscasts. The ideal candidate is a daily news consumer who knows how to generate and present engaging enterprise content for all platforms.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Generate engaging enterprise content for on-air and online reports
- Report live in field and in studio as a multi-media journalist (3-shifts per week)
- Plan, schedule, shoot, write, edit and present news content on-air and on digital platforms
- Produce and booth weekend newscasts
- Availability to work weekends and some holidays
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Ability to generate and tell unique enterprise stories relevant to our Central Texas audience
- Strong news judgment
- Ability to present clear and concise on-air content in scripted and non-scripted events
- Planning skills that keep you always seeking the next big topic
- Creative thinker with a desire to present information in new formats and with engaging visuals
- Excellent writing, shooting, editing, and producing skills
- Ability to transport ENG gear for on-location shoots and live shots
- Ability to multitask and be calm and decisive under pressure
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
- Bachelors degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent training and/or experience
