Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor supervises personnel engaged in diagnostic laboratory testing. Performs assigned phases of nuclear research under the guidance of Director of Nuclear Medicine. Being a Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor assists medical students with hands-on instruction and equipment training. Monitors inventory of radioisotopes. Additionally, Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine. The Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to work on our Mobile Imaging team. This position will be responsible for driving the mobile unit to various clinics and medical centers in Owatonna and New Prague, Minnesota and Decorah and Charles City, Iowa on a bi-weekly rotating schedule as listed below.  

    Week 1 (four work days): Monday and Tuesday-New Prague; Thursday-Decorah; Friday-Owatonna

    Week 2: Monday-Owatonna; Tuesday and Friday-New Prague; Wednesday-Charles City; Thursday-Decorah

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Performing imaging procedures that meet the quality expectations of the patient, referring physician, and radiologist.
    • Following the orders of the referring physician and protocols specified by the radiologist.
    • Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals as prescribed by the physician order.
    • Viewing images to ensure quality of pictures and transferring images to the Radiologist for interpretation and verifying the images and patient information arrived correctly.
    • Explaining medical procedures to patients and answering any questions they may have.
    • Following safety procedures to protect the patients and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure.
    • Monitoring and observing any unusual reactions patients may have to drugs.
    • Maintaining detailed procedural records.
    • Complying with safety and quality procedures and initiatives by strictly following safety policies, rules and safe work methods, making suggestions to support continuous improvements in safety, promptly correcting or reporting safety hazards or unsafe conditions, and promptly reporting injuries for timely diagnoses and medical treatment.
    • This position requires travel up to 100% of the time. 
    • Our standard work week is five days a week Monday-Friday, even if you aren't scheduled to work all five days. The position does not have a permanent fixed schedule because our routes are subject to change at any time. You will be required to work an alternative schedule within the region as needed to provide backup coverage for leaves of absences, vacations, unplanned absences, etc., on unscheduled days.  

    In addition to providing patient care, mobile nuclear medicine technologists drive the mobile unit to customer locations. In these situations, the technologist is responsible for the maintenance of the truck which includes checking and maintaining the fire extinguishers, patient lift, smoke detectors and emergency lighting and scheduling and documenting preventive maintenance as necessary. Technologists inspect the truck before and after each trip and submit a report indicating truck conditions. Technologists maintain driver logs according to DOT regulations.

    Qualifications


    • A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Nuclear Medicine 
    • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management, analytical, organizational, empathy, critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Must be able to multi-task while maintaining great patient care as well as superior quality of exams in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
    • The ability to work well independently with limited direct supervision
    • PC proficiency to access internet websites, review on-line documentation and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
    • Willingness to travel 100% of the time 

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Testing

    • CNMT or ARRT (N), CPR certified; CDL B endorsement and DOT annual physical certification, mandatory education provided by DMS, TB, State licensure if required, Flu, Covid and Hep B vaccinations as required.
