Nuclear Medicine Technician provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technician observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technician typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), or the American Society of Clinical Pathology. We are looking for a dynamic NM Technologist for our Nuclear Medicine Department in Pinehurst. If you are eager to enhance your clinical skills with a variety of NM studies and work with a varied patient population, this may be the position for you.
Job Details- Must be Nuclear Medicine registered either through NMTCB or ARRT
- BCLS required
- Has training in NM studies such as Nuclear Stress Test, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, Lung scans, Thyroid Scans, Liver Scans, and Brain Scans
- Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment as required by the institution.
- Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used and disposed, using computer and following physician’s prescription.
- Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or inhalation.
- Starts patient IV's.
- Explaining the imaging procedure to patients, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for scanning.
- Accomplish computer processing and imaging enhancement.
- Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
- Monitoring the departments daily, monthly, and quarterly QC under the guidelines of the NRC.
