Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care jobs in Saint Petersburg, FL

Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage care for patients in an acute care setting. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Assesses patient condition and may provide treatment using specialized medical equipment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.     Job Description:

    • Asses each resident’s skin condition weekly and as necessary including stage, size, sites, depth, color, drainage, and odor of each condition. Report any changes to physician, charge nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Director of Nursing, and take follow up action.
    • Instruct nursing assistants in proper, preventative safety measures and use of adaptive equipment to meet residents’ needs.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team and rehabilitation meetings as required.
    • Provide assistance with daily nursing rounds.
    • Administer medications and treatment in an accurate and timely manner to residents in accordance with physician’s orders.
    • Monitor and document effectiveness of treatment and medication.
    • Provide emergency care to residents when necessary.
    • Always maintain a courteous and professional appearance.
    • Follow facility policy and procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook .

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Valid LPN/RN License
    • Valid CPR Certification
    • Wound care experience preferred
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
