Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage care for patients in an acute care setting. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Assesses patient condition and may provide treatment using specialized medical equipment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.     Job Summary
    • A Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates and treats patients in the acute medical setting. The PT treats patients of all ages as ordered immediately post trauma, surgery, acute medical event or exacerbation. Acute Care PT staff assist patients to reach their highest level of functioning and make recommendations for the next level of care. The physical therapist plans and implements prevention, habilitation, and/or rehabilitation services including mobility devices, counseling and orientation for mobility, pain relief, increasing strength, and improving or correcting disabling conditions. Physical therapists participate in a rotation for the following medical units: medical ICU’s, trauma, cardiology, medical/surgical, oncology, neurology, and orthopedic. Specialty teams for trained therapists include but are not limited to: wound care, lymphedema, pediatrics, neonatal ICU, and vestibular.
    Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program
      • Preferred: Masters or Doctorate from an accredited program of Physical Therapy
    • Experience
      • No prior experience required
    • Skills
      • Good clinical expertise, communication skills, human relations skills and organizational skills required.
      • Self-motivated individual who can work independently with little direct supervision required
      • Has demonstrated interest in professional growth by attendance at continuing education workshops, and applications of new principles and/or techniques.
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration
      • Required: License of Physical Therapy active in the State of Missouri
      • Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
