Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage care for patients in an ambulatory care setting. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Assesses patient condition and may provide treatment using specialized medical equipment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care works in outpatient settings, responding to high patient volumes in short-term spans and dealing with unpredictable situations and issues. Follows established guidelines and protocols. Requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Job Purpose:
The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting. The provider demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in adults as well as children. The provider is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant demonstrates an advanced level of medical/nursing clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism and systems-based practice. The provider works with administrative, nursing and physician to assure safe, effective, quality patient care and to promote the mission of OHCC.
