Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
  • UltaCare Medical
  • Jellico, TN CONTRACTOR
  • UltaCare Medical has an immediate opening for geri-psych Nurse Practitioner. Under the supervision of a supervising psychiatrist, the Psych NP will provide assessment, diagnosis and management of mental health and psychiatric conditions. This role is focused on optimizing treatment to yield better response, reduced side effects, and improved quality of life.

Anxiety, depression, dementia, grief and loss and a variety of other mental health conditions are prominent challenges in nursing home populations and these residents deserve a mental health specialist that can help them deal with these challenges. As a psych NP with UltaCare Medical, you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills and expertise to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these residents by optimizing their treatments. Our psych NP’s often voice great professional satisfaction and can recite countless experiences where they dramatically helped others by both better treating the underlying condition but also improving quality of life.

Schedules are flexible and the Psych NP will work independently inside of post-acute and long-term care nursing facilities. This means that you can generally choose when you come to work and when you leave, provided that you work the number of hours that have been agreed upon. Additionally, there is nobody “looking over your shoulder.” We require collaboration with nursing home staff, but ultimately you make your own schedule and have the autonomy to do what you are educated and trained to do.

Many of our positions serve rural communities. These communities rely upon people helping others and tend to be tight knit. We play a vital role in these communities by improving healthcare for those that may otherwise have difficulty accessing it. Our group was founded in 2006 and has always followed a guiding mission of keeping a small company feel while helping as many people as possible.

This facility will require 1 day per week. The pay is excellent and some of our full-time Psych NP's make well over 200K /year. For the 1 day a week this position requires, the pay works out to be a very good rate for the time required. Many of our Psych NP's have other positions or cover multiple facilities.

    Duties include:
    • Review psychotropic medications in accordance with CMS guidelines.
    • Make medication recommendations to the medical staff onsite and follow up for medication effectiveness.
    • Offer guidance and instruction related to psychiatric illnesses to staff at designated facility.
    • Meet monthly for over site from supervising psychiatrist to review charts and receive education/guidance.

    About UltaCare Medical

UltaCare Medical is a patient-focused medical group dedicated to providing high-quality care to seniors in long-term care and skilled nursing facilities. Our team of compassionate and expert providers offer a range of services, including primary care, mental health care, wound care, and more. We're committed to removing unnecessary administrative burdens and empowering our providers to deliver the best care possible.

UltaCare Medical has a rich history rooted in the dedication and passion of our founder, a geriatrician, who was approached by a struggling nursing home in East TN in 2006. The facility had incurred significant tags and fines from the state for a number of issues and needed help to improve healthcare for their residents. Our founder conducted an in-depth analysis and recommended embedding certain providers into the facility to improve care. The nursing home was so impressed with his work that they asked him to implement the changes he recommended. After several years, the nursing home went from being a struggling 1-star facility, barely able to stay open, to a thriving 5-star facility at 100% occupancy. Our founder's work was recognized when he was awarded the prestigious AMDA National Medical Director of the Year.

This experience inspired the development of UltaCare Medical's patient-focused model, which has evolved and improved over the intervening 17 years. Today, our team of compassionate and expert providers offer a range of services, including primary care, mental health care, wound care, and more, with a mission to elevate the standard of care for seniors in long-term care and skilled nursing facilities. We're committed to removing unnecessary administrative burdens and empowering our providers to deliver the best care possible.
