Nursing Home Administrator directs the day-to-day functions and operations of a nursing home facility. Responsible for maintaining a high standard of care for the residents while achieving the facility's business objectives. Being a Nursing Home Administrator creates and implements strategic plans. Bourbon Heights, Inc. is a non-profit organization which provides quality long term care, adult day care, apartments and respite in a facility located in Paris, Kentucky.
The original facility was constructed in 1964 and Bourbon Heights was founded in 1965 as a non-profit 50 (c) entity to provide expert skilled and unskilled living solutions for Bourbon and surrounding residents at a reasonable price.
The facility is Operated by a non-compensated Board of Directors. The facility has 99 nursing beds, 9 personal care beds, 29 apartments and an onsite Adult Day Care facility.
We are currently searching for a full time Administrator for the operation of the Skilled Nursing, Personal Care, Social and Rehabilitation Services.
The successful candidate should have a proven track record active leadership and building dynamic and effective teams. Candidates with Lean and Quality principals preferred.
Scope of Duties:
The Administrator is accountable to the Board of Directors. The Administrator will be responsible for the routine operation of the Skilled Nursing, Personal Care, Social and Rehabilitation Services in the facility. The performance of these duties shall be carried out under policies established by the Board of Directors.
The Administrator shall be responsible for the management, administration and compliance with the financial budget for the Skilled Nursing, Personal Care, Social and Rehabilitation Services of the facility. These duties shall include but not be limited to the following responsibilities:
1. Orderly and efficient function of the Skilled Nursing, Personal Care, Social and Rehabilitation Services in the facility.
2. Maintaining Open Communication and Teamwork with Finance Manager/Controller, Staff and Board.
3. Personal matters as pertains to upholding and administrating the written policies.
4. Mediation of any disputes between any resident, family or guardian and the Facility as relates to the Skilled Nursing and Personal Care Beds.
5. Purchase of commodities, supplies and services required to operate the facility following policies for approval for contracts and capital purchases by the Finance Manager/Controller.
6. Submitting a Capital Plan prepared in conjunction with the Finance Manager/Controller to Board of Directors the need for all new equipment.
7. Operating the facility to the approved budget with no over runs.
8. Proper maintenance of all buildings and equipment in relationship to the Skilled Nursing, Personal Care, Social Services and Rehabilitation Services in the facility.
9. Ensuring and maintaining facility compliance with all ADA regulations.
10. Ensuring and maintaining compliance of personnel and facility with all OSHA Regulations.
11. Ensuring and maintaining compliance of personal and procedures to all HIPPA Regulations.
12. Complying to the tenants of Sarbanes-Oxley for financial transactions and reporting.
13. Ensuring compliance to Data Integrity to facility documentation.
14. Compliance to all local and state regulations for the facility.
15. Maintaining compliance to all Federal, State and Local standards for patient care.
16. Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility and keep the organization on track for its long-term goals and mission
17. Coordinate and provide leadership within the Skilled Nursing and Personal Care Team and ensure that they work together effectively
18. Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure residents’ individual care plans are being followed
19. Provide regular safety and compliance training
20. Assist in the creation of a budget.
21. Act as the ‘face’ of the organization to the governing board, the public, and residents’ families; and as a liaison between staff, residents, and families
Given the 24/7 nature of nursing homes, Nursing Home Administrators often work non-standard hours, and/or more than forty hours per week, and may be on-call on nights, weekends, and holidays. Most time is spent interacting with residents, families and staff, or in meetings, and requires excellent skills in time and stress management, a calm, patient, and professional demeanor, and deep understanding of both the clinical and business aspects of running an acute care or nursing facility.
Administrator shall also render such other and unrelated services and duties as may be assign by the Board of Directors. In no event shall the Administrator be required to perform any service or duty that would violate the terms of the Administrator’s Nursing Home Administrator License.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Active Administrator License from the Commonwealth of Kentucky
2. 5 years minimum experience as an Administrator
3. Must have a working knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
4. Must understand budgets and financials.
