The qualified candidate must possess:

• Current RI Nursing Home Administrators License
• Excellent operations and management leadership skills
• An in-depth knowledge of the regulatory process, financial and budgetary controls, staff development, culture change and census management.
• Proven communication skills
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience

Job Description

POSITION: Nursing Home Administrator

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible to manage the overall day to day clinical and administrative operations of the facility, including profit and loss responsibility and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works throughout the facility; subject to frequent interruptions; involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agency personnel, etc. under all circumstances; subject to hostile and emotionally upset persons; communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors; may need to work beyond normal work hours and holidays and in other positions when necessary; is subject to call back during an emergency; is involved with community /civic health matters/projects as appropriate; attends and participates in continuing educational programs; is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day; may be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals; maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the resident’s needs.

EDUCATION: Must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor degree in Health Care Administration or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Long Term Care Administrator in this state,

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel and the general public.

Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.

Must possess leadership and supervisory ability

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, & interpret facility programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., necessary for providing quality care.

Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as a willingness to handle difficult situations.

Must be willing to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
