Nursing Supervisor jobs in New York
Nursing Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel in patient care units. Participates in planning work of assigned units and coordinates activities with other patient care units and related departments. Being a Nursing Supervisor ensures that patients' needs are met and evaluates unit nursing care and performance. Monitors patient recordkeeping activities for accuracy, completion and compliance with all regulations. Additionally, Nursing Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree of nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires certification as a registered nurse (RN). The Nursing Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Nursing Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. We are currently seeking a Nursing Supervisor to work in our Skilled Nursing Facility. If you are looking for a diverse position as part of a creative, hardworking team where you will make a difference, we want to hear from you!
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist nursing scheduler to cover callouts
• Assign nurses to patients
• Ensure nursing operational standards are met
• Perform QA audits as needed
• Ensure all nurses follow policies and procedures
• Train new team members
• Evaluate nurses’ performance
• Inform family members about medical procedures and doctors’ instructions
• Handle complaints or other issues
• Keep records of nurses’ files, patients’ cases, and procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven work experience as a nursing supervisor
• In-depth knowledge of LTC/Rehab procedures
• Thorough knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare
• Team management skills
• Great communication and people skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• BSc or diploma in nursing; training in healthcare administration is a plus
• Valid nursing license
