We are currently seeking Geriatric Nursing Assistants to join our team.
We have the following open Geriatric Nursing Assistant schedules available:
- Weekends Only - Friday through Monday, with an extra shift diff included!!! (3-11)
- 1 - FT - 3 days per week, specifically 3A-3P, with a variable schedule
- 2 - PT - 2 days per week, including every other weekend, day shift (7-3)
- 3 - FT - 5 days per week, including every other weekend, evening shift (3-11)
- 2 - PT - 3 days per week, including every other weekend, evening shift (3-11)
- 2 -PT - 4 days per week, including every other weekend, night shift (11-7)
- PRN
Job Specifications:
- 1. Enjoys working with aged or chronically ill.
- 2. Maintains professional appearance.
- 3. Must complete a health questionnaire.
- 4. Will be provided orientation to facility and job duties.
- 5. High school education preferable.
- 6. Certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Is directly responsible to the charge nurse.
2. General resident care functions and responsibilities:
- a. Provide nursing care according to established patient care policies, reporting immediately to charge nurse any change in resident's condition and/or behavior
- b. AM and PM care to residents daily
- c. Back rubs as needed
- d. oral hygiene including care of natural teeth, dentures, edentulous residents daily
- e. Shampoos weekly unless done by beautician
- f. baths as scheduled and as needed
- g. trimming and cleaning nails and toenails of non-diabetic residents weekly and as needed
- h. shave male residents daily and female residents as needed, providing grooming
- i. apply make-up to female residents as requested or as appropriate
- k. assure residents are out of bed daily and dressed appropriately as their conditions allow providing assistance as needed
- l. make occupied or unoccupied beds daily and as needed
- m. heights and weights per policy and as directed by charge nurse
- n. temperature, pulse, respirations per facility policy and as needed
- o. care of incontinent residents by diapering, giving bedpans, urinals, assisting with toileting, changing colostomies, emptying urinary drainage bags
- p. measuring and recording intake and output, recording bowel movements and
- reporting constipation
- q. providing catheter care
- r. collect urine, stool, sputum specimens
- s. apply aseptic technique in all aspects of resident care and use isolation techniques as necessary
- t. assist with admissions, transfers, discharges
- u. provide post mortem care
- v. provide fresh water to residents daily on all shifts
- w. properly utilize siderails, restraints, geri-chairs
- x. assist residents in all activities of daily living
- y. prepare residents for meals, appointments, activities and transport
- z. assist in dining areas during meals
- aa. pass out trays, feed/assist residents as needed
- bb. observe and record food, fluid and nourishment of each resident
- cc. assist with restorative and rehabilatative programs, i.e., ambulation, ROM, bowel and bladder training, feeding and grooming
- dd. assist with ambulation using mechanical devices such as walkers, canes, crutches, braces, wheelchairs, mechanical lifts using proper body mechanics
- ee. participate in unit cleaning duties as directed
Must have an active MD GNA License.
