Nutrition Assistant jobs in East Homer, NY
The Nutrition Assistant institutes basic nutrition plans including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of required meals and supplements. Screens and identifies patients with nutritional risk using scoring guidelines and initiates referrals for dietetic assessment. Being a Nutrition Assistant requires an associate's degree. Computes analysis of patients intake and calorie count results. In addition, Nutrition Assistant typically reports to a dietitian. Typically requires Dietetic Technician - Registered (DTR). Being a Nutrition Assistant gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision. Travel Compensation: $32.00-38.00/hr (For travel time to and from the facility)

At least 1 year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate nutritional care of residents and patients by completing nutritional assessments
- Experience working with tube feedings
- Provide nutritional counseling and education for residents and family
- Meet DOH/state/federal regulations and company standards
- Perform duties independently without training or direction
Requirements: Candidates must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Experience providing general nutrition education (IE weight loss, weight gain)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with electronic charting systems
- Familiarity with state survey process and compliance to nutrition care regulations
