Obstetrics/Gynecology Director directs the staff and programs of the obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) department. Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for OB/GYN services and programs. Being an Obstetrics/Gynecology Director ensures quality care for patients. Requires a MD degree. Additionally, Obstetrics/Gynecology Director typically reports to top management. Requires license to practice medicine. The Obstetrics/Gynecology Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Obstetrics/Gynecology Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Role of the DirectorThe Director is responsible for all aspects of managing the program's development, supervision, enrollment, and the facilities. The Director is to ensure the smooth flow of the program and the adherence to our stated philosophy. Other responsibilities of the Director are as follows:
- Overseeing the care, safety, and well-being of all children at the center
- Hold staff meetings, staff training, and encouraging continuing education
- Child enrollments, parent conferences, and parent education
- All aspects of staffing, schedules, and parent education
- All aspects of staffing, schedules, and supervision of personnel
- Overall maintenance of safe and clean environment
- Compliance with State and Local agencies while maintaining licensing rules and regulations
- Networking with the community
- Director must approve the teachers' lesson plans on a weekly basis
- The Director must be on duty during the center's operating hours a minimum of 40 hours per week
- The Director will supervise all center personnel
- The Director will be in charge of the parent payments
As the Director, the following education/experience is necessary:- Bachelor's degree in child Development or its equivalent
- One or more courses in program administration
- Experience as a Lead Teacher
- Preferably, prior experience with staff supervision
The following skills are required for the Director to be effective:- Through understanding of child growth and development
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with infants, toddlers, staff, and parents
- Ability to hire, train, and supervise adults
- Sound knowledge of business practices
