● Developing algorithms to advance the analysis of novel forms of genomic data
● Creating computational pipeline components, workflows, and infrastructure to facilitate data analysis and interpretation
● Evaluating algorithm performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
● Analyzing experimental data and creating actionable insights and data visualizations
● Lead a small to mid-sized team of computational scientists
● PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology or related discipline with 8 years of industry experience
● Understanding of NGS technology and assay development
● Familiarity with standard bioinformatics data formats and command-line tools (such as samtools, bedtools, bcftools, seqtk) and pipeline frameworks (Nextflow, snakemake, Cromwell)
● Experience writing software in Python (including numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scipy, scikit-learn, pysam) as well as experience using a strongly typed language (e.g., C , Java, Rust, etc.)
● Strong background in quantitative reasoning, probability, and statistical inference
● Familiarity with statistical principles of experimental design
● Experience creating algorithms and developing computational models
● Experience with software development and testing, including version control (e.g., git), unit testing and continuous integration
● Experience analyzing complex experimental data and visualizing and presenting results
● Experience with the Linux command line, HPC (SLURM, SGE), containers, and cloud computing
● Prior experience in leading technical projects and teams
● Demonstrated product development experience for either internal or external facing software
● Strong oral and written communication skills
