    This position is located at the Trinity River Restoration Program (TRRP) Office in Weaverville, California. Incumbent is assigned primary responsibility as the secretary to the Executive Director, as well as supporting other members of the Trinity River Adaptive Environmental Assessment and Management (AEAM) Team. Participates actively in the management of the office by relieving the Executive Director of many administrative and miscellaneous clerical duties.

    • Advises the manager of important matters relative to significant items in reports, files, and correspondence.
    • Composes correspondence relative to the administrative support functions of the office and other subjects as outlined in directives or procedures, or as specifically requested by the manager.
    • Log, monitor, and report on all construction submittal.
    • Attends weekly staff and other types of meetings and makes complete arrangements for conferences.
    • Maintains supervisor's appointment schedule with full authority to make commitments of time, establish priorities, and reschedule appointments.
    • Reviews, routes, and distributes incoming correspondence.
    • Responds to and plans for the administrative needs of the office, including submitting and providing the status of personnel action requests
    • Compiles and updates mailing lists for projects under the responsibility of the office. Inputs and formats public comments from meeting flip charts, summary notes, correspondence, and other sources.
    • Maintain office binders relative to the administrative support functions of the office (i.e. design and contract binders).
    • Uses a personal computer to prepare a variety of materials from handwritten or electronic drafts and oral instructions.
    • Reviews specification reports, for format and content prior to contractor submission.
    • Prepares materials in final form, ensuring the accuracy of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and appropriate formats.

    Qualifications

    In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.

    To qualify at the GS-06, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service having demonstrated experience serving as a clerk/secretary, independently providing clerical support, typing, maintaining files and records, screening material, establishing procedures, following up on action items, editing correspondence, and requisitioning supplies and/or equipment.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
