This position provides support for the security of public schools. Responsible for monitoring security cameras, assisting with activation of emergency procedures and vulnerability assessments. Assists deputies with cases, distributes intelligence, and prepares reports and bulletins. This position works within a general outline of work to be performed under general supervision; makes decisions according to established guidelines.
The tasks below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional related tasks as necessary.
Bachelor's degree in Security/Risk Management, Intelligence Studies, Statistics, Sociology, or closely related field of study and two years of work experience in a law enforcement environment.
OR
Associate's degree and four work experience in a law enforcement environment..
Experience in a school security setting a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft office products and knowledgeable in software applications and data analysis tools.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph, reference/employment/neighborhood checks. submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming position and will be subject to return to duty, post-accident and/or random and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed with BCSO.
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Position works closely with Brevard Public School (BPS) staff.
Work is primarily conducted during normal business hours (Monday – Friday 8am-5pm). Employees are required to respond to calls after hours as needed to assist with after hour investigations.
