Systems Programmer/Analyst

Job Summary:
The primary function of the Systems Programmer/Analyst include programming (C ,
HTML, HTML5, Power-On, etc.) design, database management (SQL, Power-On) and
support implementing new IS systems. Supporting administration and maintenance of
systems, providing Symitar, software and hardware support. Ensuring the support,
systems security, and availability, and assisting Information Systems Management with
vendor/technology evaluation and identifying overall organizational needs. On-site
presence during business and after hours at various locations is required for this role.
Essential Job Functions:
Support Symitar Power-On programming, Symitar system integration, uptime,
System Updates/Patch Management, system backups and assisting with daily
processing.
Assist in the full life cycle of development including design, development,
implementation, testing and maintenance of simple to highly complex computer
programs and subsystems.
Supports the development of detailed analysis of system interactions to
determine technical solutions and resolve problems which are cost effective and
consistent with user needs, system capacities and capabilities.
Assist with maintenance and use of all Credit Union database (SQL) servers.
Create special reports and programs as requested via Power-On, Report
Generator, SQL, Microsoft Excel, and Crystal Reports.
Demonstrates solid project management, problem solving, and technical
expertise to ensure successful completion of all programming related requests.
Supports with resolving end user problems on Symitar system and local area
network in a timely manner.
Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, Credit Union
policies and procedures. Maintains integrity and ethics in all actions and
conversations with or regarding Credit Union members and their accounts;
complies with privacy act directives.
Assist in the design and maintain applications to improve workflow, ease of use,
and stability to the Credit Union.
Responsible for working with third parties and writing necessary code for the
third-party products to interface with Symitar.
Identifies, recommends, and implements solutions to issues that are related to
production level code defects or process changes. Ability to handle multiple
projects and tasks concurrently as well as the ability to prioritize and meet
deadlines.
Pursue opportunities for professional growth and knowledge through training,
education, and self-study.
On-call during regular business hours and after-hours duties.
Serves as back-up to other Information Systems department personnel as
necessary.
Performs daily and other scheduled core data processing operations. Performs
routine system maintenance. Monitors system operations to minimize downtime.
Performs duties of a LAN/WAN Administrator. Ensures working conditions of
workstations including software license management. Performs network
troubleshooting. Reports problems to external system providers, such as
telecomm, mainframe, web host, and software vendors to resolve. Adhere to IS
policy standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal
computers, and data including coordination of network schedule, backups and
downtime with users.
Installs and modifies PC and network hardware and software. Works with tech
support vendors and field engineers. Diagnoses hardware, software, and
operator problems, takes remedial actions, and recommends changes. Installs
peripheral equipment, such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives, as
needed.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in Computer Science or 2 years of,
programming (C , HTML, JAVA, Pearl) experience or, an equivalent
combination of training and experience. (Symitar programing and computer
operations knowledge is preferred).
An ability to read, maintain, debug, and succinctly comment code is a must.
3 years of Symitar development experience is preferred but not required.
3 years of experience in database management is preferred. (SQL, Access,
UNIX)
5 years of financial institution is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to take a given task and work independently and/or as part
of a team to bring the task to completion.
Programming/scripting experience is required, preferably with multiple
languages.
Demonstrated ability to learn to program in new languages, specifically Symitar’s
Power-On language.
Demonstrated ability to analytically troubleshoot complex problems and strong
verbal and written communication skills.
Expert knowledge of Windows client and server OS’s, experience with Active
Directory and Microsoft Exchange, and some experience with Unix-like systems
is expected.
VMware, AIX, and Cisco networking experience are preferred.
Must be able to be on-call after hours in case of outages and other urgent issues.
Must be bondable.
Must comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other Anti-Money Laundering
(AML) Laws and Regulations, as they pertain to federal guidelines and internal
policies and procedures.
Must complete compliance training to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory
requirements, including security awareness and BSA training.
