Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operator Trainee to join our team. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the field of operations, particularly in the area of water treatment. The Operator Trainee will receive hands-on training and mentorship, equipping them with the skills necessary to maintain and operate various systems and equipment effectively.

REQUIRED: Type IIA Water Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by NYSDOH within seventy-eight (78) weeks of appointment as Trainee

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment facilities and water treatment systems.
• Learn to maintain and repair equipment including distributed control systems.
• Analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement.
• Participate in routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal functionality of equipment.
• Collaborate with experienced operators to build knowledge of mechanical systems and operational protocols.
• Follow safety guidelines and best practices while working in various environments.

Experience

• Mechanical knowledge is preferred, with an understanding of equipment repair techniques.
• Experience or coursework related to wastewater treatment or water treatment processes is a plus.
• A willingness to learn about distributed control systems and their applications in operational settings.
• Strong analytical skills to assess system performance and troubleshoot issues effectively.
