JOB SUMMARY:
The Outreach Specialist will work to support adults during their engagement with the Outreach Center (ORC). They will be responsible for mentoring relationships by offering strategies to cope, role-modeling positive relationships, and strategies to improve socialization within peer-supported relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans and facilitates groups related to mental health, social skills, relationships, independent living skills, vocational activities, etc.
2. Assists members with planning outreach events, recreational outings, volunteer activities, and social events.
3. Makes referrals for individuals who require mental health intervention or basic needs support (housing, food, clothing, etc.).
4. Communicate timely with guardians, parents, case managers, resource workers, group home staff, members, and other community agencies to facilitate mutual program planning.
5. Assists in assessment and evaluation to determine member’s needs and progress relative to set goals.
6. Documents observations relating to actions and behaviors and maintains clinical records of services provided to meet Medicaid billable standards.
7. Continuously expands knowledge and builds relationships with other community agencies.
8. Actively participates in community events to inform others of VPI and ORC services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Functions are considered light to moderate according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Work performed includes the ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling), and lift to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normally works in a climate-controlled office environment. Frequent sitting with movement throughout office spaces. Use of computers throughout work. Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrist, and fingers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, human services, or sociology, preferred.
2. Minimum one (1) year experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
3. Ability to work (1) Saturday/month (on a rotation), required.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with the highest degree of integrity and trust.
HOURS:
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
