CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, (1.0 FTE) exempt (to include evening and weekend work as the program demands). The position is grant funded and contingent on the availability of new and continuing grant funding.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the CFO/COO, the Bookkeeper performs a variety of duties including general accounting functions, oversight of procurement, fixed assets, facilities vendor management, advancement database systems, and comprehensive human resources tracking.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and maintain a documented system of accounting procedures that best accomplish and are aligned with the institution’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Manage the general bookkeeping process and general ledger transactions.
Responsible for completing bank deposits and payroll processing.
Assist the CFO and Grant Department General Ledger Reporting with fund tracking, restricted fund accounting, and reporting.
Create, maintain, and manage the fixed assets system and applicable databases.
Create, maintain, and manage the organization’s record retention system and applicable databases.
Assist the CFO in the building of department budget templates and data entry of budget data into the general ledger system.
Assist the CFO during the organizations external audit
Assist the CFO in the preparation of the organization’s Form 990
Assist the CFO in being the liaison for building ad-hoc reports from various systems and databases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in accounting, finance, or information systems) or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education. A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar role and similar environment is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform the work as outlined in the position description and responsibilities sections above.
This position requires the ability to lift 30lbs (approx.) and must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The target hiring salary begins at $45,000 depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications. Benefits include a monthly health expense stipend ($512.50 single with no dependents/$1,037.50 married or has dependents), 5% base salary pension contribution (employer-sponsored), short/long-term disability and life insurance (employer-sponsored), work-related travel reimbursements ($.58 per mile), and 160 hours of PTO per year.
