POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Outreach and Education Coordinator is a self-starter who is responsible for maintaining and building connections in the community as well as providing information and guidance on the services Esperanza Shelter provides. This position will also conduct training and provide awareness of domestic violence and its impact.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Recruits and manages volunteers and interns.
- Plans, develops, maintains, and updates a written and well-structured outreach plan that follows CYFD community outreach policies.
- Maintains event files and reports according to CYFD standards.
- Utilize Database software to track community engagements.
- Provides guidance and support on how to access domestic violence services at Esperanza Shelter as well as other resources within the community.
- Educates as well as increases awareness, and understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and the impact it has on various populations.
- Attends organizational as well as external required training.
- Adaptive, creative and flexible with training in the event of public health orders. In such cases, virtual and/or small group training that follows these mandates will be provided.
- Work with the VP of Donor and Community Relations to help identify inspirational stories and exercise creative storytelling skills that educate the community and promote Esperanza.
- Evaluates local community outreach programs and determines needs for DV awareness and education.
- Dress professionally when interacting with external agencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with the majority of the work time to be out in the community** Office setting is on-site.
