Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. - Packaging - Packaging Mach Oper SUMMARY Responsible for the training/qualification, Operation, troubleshoots, R&D and performs routine maintenance of packaging machines to ensure continuous and efficient operation of the packaging department. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ·Works with R&D to develop new products and optimum operating parameters. ·Performs tasks as instructed and works shifts as assigned by supervision. ·Operates, trouble shoots and performs routine maintenance on all packaging machines, scales, tape machines and date code machines. ·Responsible for identifying and loading correct film for each product based on production schedule ·Performs all tasks required to ensure cleaning standards are met. ·Coordinates with other crews and departments to ensure efficient operation of the production process. Reports all quality and maintenance issues to affected departments and management. ·Provides support to Shift Manager by coordinating Packaging Room activities to ensure production schedule is met; machines are operating and staffed to standard; leads and supports all programs to promote food safety and reports production issues to management. ·Responsible for performing monitoring procedures for Critical Control Point #2- potential allergen cross contamination in packaging room. ·Coordinates activities of Packaging Room employees, as needed, to ensure efficient operation of the packaging process. ·Maintains all required written documentation related to production and quality. ·Attends and participates in all Company required training. ·Responsible for attending and participating in assigned training sessions related to GMPs, SOPs, HACCP and SQF; applying and demonstrating obtained knowledge and following all procedures and policies related to food safety. · Responsible for keeping work area safe and clean. ·Adheres to all safety guidelines for job performed ·Performs related duties as assigned by supervision ·Responsible for meeting all quality, sanitation and production standards PHYSICAL DEMANDS ·Occasionally required to lift and pull up to 50 pounds ·Occasionally required to carry items up to 50 pounds ·Required to work while standing for periods up to 2 hours ·Regularly required to bend, reach, pull, stoop, kneel, climb and reach ·Perform medium to medium duty work tasks QUALIFICATIONS ·Must be able to proficiently operate and troubleshoot high speed packaging machines and other food processing equipment. ·Ability to learn and apply leadership and training skills to successfully lead and train other employees ·Ability to obtain certification and operate a forklift ·Ability to use Excel, Word and Outlook proficiently ·Ability to communicate, write legibly, and speak in English ·Ability to perform each essential function satisfactory. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT ·Safety eyewear and hearing protection are required ·All PPE related to GMPs are required. ·Protective clothing, hair net and gloves are required. ·Respirator and other PPE may be required based on tasks being performed.
