Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. Overview:
Seeking experienced civil litigation paralegal to assist Attorney in a growing civil litigation practice. Will consider all applicants but will give preference to those with lengthier history working in civil litigation. Background in criminal law a plus, but not required. Paralegal will predominantly be working in civil litigation. Attorney also does post-conviction relief and transactional law, and Paralegal will occasionally be given administrative tasks related to this area.
Paralegal should be curious, detail-oriented, and have excellent communication skills—both verbal and written. Paralegal should be knowledgeable about the litigation process, from the filing of a complaint to disposition.
