Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience.     Overview:

    Seeking experienced civil litigation paralegal to assist Attorney in a growing civil litigation practice. Will consider all applicants but will give preference to those with lengthier history working in civil litigation. Background in criminal law a plus, but not required. Paralegal will predominantly be working in civil litigation. Attorney also does post-conviction relief and transactional law, and Paralegal will occasionally be given administrative tasks related to this area.

    Paralegal should be curious, detail-oriented, and have excellent communication skills—both verbal and written. Paralegal should be knowledgeable about the litigation process, from the filing of a complaint to disposition.

    Responsibilities:

    • Tracking all civil ligitation deadlines
    • Maintaining civil litigation physical and electronic file
    • Maintaining attorney's calendar and appointment schedule, often requiring paralegal to coordinate with other departments of the firm
    • Scheduling depositions, mediations, and/or court hearings
    • Drafting and filing standard non-substantive motions, subpoeanas, and other documents as directed by Attorney
    • Editing and reviewing Attorney drafts of substantive documents for grammatical and/or case-specific errors
    • Assisting Attorney in preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
    • Regular communication and updates to clients
    • Communication with experts and / or witnesses
    • Communication with oppositing counsel and / o rother attorneys
    • Collecting case information and/or records from clients and/or third parties
    • Comfort natigating the North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure
    • Occassional legal research and/or case law review

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
