Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. This role supports the Corporate and Commercial Transactions Group within the Legal Department. This position will research law, investigate facts, and prepare legal documents in corporate governance, real estate, finance matters and commercial creditor’s rights matters. The position will also support on M&A transactions and commercial transactions.
3 years related experience and/or training
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Proficient analytical and research skills. Attention to detail is essential. Must be a self-starter who anticipates issues and interacts well in unplanned situations. Presentation of professional attitude and demeanor. Computer literate with ability to utilize word processing, database, electronic filing systems, and spreadsheet software applications. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously from multiple attorneys, work under pressure and still maintain normal workflow.
